Transcendance is the thematic goal of these three short films.  We follow Julian, a timid yet determined young man played by Kian Sorouri, as he undertakes an embryonic journey from social misfit to esoteric detective to disembodied figure.  “The Julian Trilogy” represents the progression of id to ego to super-ego culminating in the primordial zero-mind.
His journey begins with “Campaign”, where Julian struggles with breaking out of his shell at a party he didnt expect he’d be attending.
In “Playgrounds”, Julian finds himself in a mysterious alien city where competing enthusiasts of a certain type of street art threaten each other with kidnapping and guns.
By the time we as the audience are introduced to Julian’s image at the beginning of “Golden”, he has been consumed by an enigmatic forest and is left physically vacant.
Each film is a step away from conventional structures of storytelling.  Julian is our point of perspective as we navigate the familiar narrative structure of “Campaign”, then move to the otherworldly experimental narrative of “Playgrounds”, culminating in the warped avant garde experience of “Golden”.
Featuring the music of Animal Collective, Black Dice, Eric Copeland, Panda Bear, and an original experimental score by Alex Homan.
